Job Title: Professional Transportation Provider (Minivan Driver)
Location/Territory: Washington, DC Metropolitan Area (Including DC, Maryland, and Virginia)
Job Type: Part Time/ Full Time
Schedule: Monday – Friday (Morning & Afternoon Shift) Some Saturdays if needed
About the Position
Hayes Transportation is seeking dependable and courteous Professional Transportation Providers (Minivan Drivers) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient transportation of patients, students, staff, and guests across the Washington, DC metropolitan area on designated routes.
As a valued member of our transportation team, you will represent Hayes Transportation with professionalism and provide exceptional service while ensuring the safety and comfort of every passenger.
Key Responsibilities
Safely operate an assigned minivan over designated routes and schedules.
Adhere to all traffic laws and company safety policies at all times.
Ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers, assisting those with mobility challenges as needed.
Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle interior.
Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, checking gas, oil, water, tires, and vehicle condition.
Report any maintenance or repair needs promptly.
Maintain accurate mileage and trip reports, including passenger logs and vehicle checklists.
Communicate effectively with dispatch and report any incidents or delays.
Operate wheelchair lifts or other accessibility equipment safely and efficiently when required.
Respond appropriately to emergencies, following all safety protocols.
Complete field and accident reports as necessary.
Work overtime and during inclement weather (e.g., snow days) as required.
Work Schedule
Monday – Friday
Morning Shift: Typically between 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Afternoon Shift: Typically between 2:00 PM - 7:00 PM
(Exact times may vary depending on client scheduling.)
Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate must:
Must be at least 25 years old.
Demonstrate patience, professionalism, and courteous behavior at all times.
Be proficient in English and able to follow verbal and written instructions.
Complete all mandatory company training programs.
Pass a background investigation and driving record check that meets Hayes Transportation and insurance standards.
Maintain insurability and be able to obtain CPR certification (if not already certified).
Possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Have reliable communication devices (e.g., cell phone, email access).
Pass random mandatory drug testing.
Have strong knowledge of Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia area.
Be able to operate or learn to operate a GPS/navigation system.
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in Spanish (bilingual candidates encouraged to apply).
Prior experience in customer service or client-facing roles.
High school diploma or GED.
At least one year of experience operating a passenger vehicle, school transport, or shuttle.
